Hi all,

Moving to Norfolk later this year so I'll be spending a bit of time on the East Anglia forum smile

First question, we're spending a week in Norfolk from tomorrow. We want to spend a day exploring the delights of Norwich, but Dad has a Discovery, which as you can expect, isn't the easiest thing to park. Can anyone recommend an outside car park that the Discovery will get in (i.e. no low height barriers)?

Thanks,

Andy

i think most modern multi story car parks will take cars like a disco. i parked in the castle mall underground multi story last thursday for 6 hours at cost of £1 an hour.

Yep ... quite often see Discos/Range Rovers and the like in the Castle Mall car park ... that shouldn't be a problem. Chapelfield also has an underground car park ... bit cheaper than castle Mall's IIRC.

There are outdoors car parks in Norwich, but I'd personally stick to the two mentioned above smile

Andy,

We have a Disco3 and the Castle Mall one is a bit tight on the corner ramps.

I would go for the car park under the Forum (entrance on Bethel Street) or even the open air car park behind the Assembly House (next to Theatre Royal).

St Andrew's car park on Duke Street is also very good too.

I agree that Castle Mall may be a bit tight, and the entrance to Chapelfield has a tight left hander as you enter. If he's not familiar, I'd say try St Andrews. The ramps are wide, and plenty of headroom for a Disco.

If open air's his game, then there's a car park of Rampant Horse St/Theatre St. "Chantree" or "Cherry Tree" I think it's called, but it's right next to the Theatre Royal.)
A few mins walk from the shops, there is Mountergate car park or Elm Hill car park.
All 3 of these car parks, although worth a try, do seem to keep full throughout the day.

I've also just found this online, for ya:

I always use the park and ride as it is cheap and you get big spaces and cctv.

We ended up in St. Andrews. A very pleasant experience, just typed in the road it was on into the satnav (found in the map I printed off) and (after a bit of bother with one way systems...) we found the car park easily. It was easy to drive round in a big car, and we found a space very quickly (luck I think, someone was just coming out of one). Norwich is a great city, couldn't believe all the shops, and now looking forward to finding a house and moving to the area smile Thanks all.
