Barn find moped
Discussion
Bro' recently purchased an 1956 'Norman Nippy' 49cc moped. All original even transfers in place, the old boy who owned the thing garaged it up 35 years ago! His Son has now sold it on. Bro' and I gunked it down yesterday removing all the oil and grease the old fella' had coated onto the pop pop to reveal everything in remarkably good nick. Next we squirted some thin oil into the bore and worked the miniscule piston up and down in its bore. Checked for a spark, bingo, fueled up bearing in mind last time this was done petrol was 2 bob a gallon, peddalled like fury and away she went. Immiting clouds of lovely smelly two stroke and the stuff we put into the bore. Everything works 100% and its almost ready for a MOT test. Bloody amazing after 35 years non use, we did'nt even change the spark plug. Who said British bikes were crap.
OK so its a pop pop, but at 150 mpg and a doddle to park, ride and nobody is going to nick it, maybe its the ideal vehicle for London? How much did Bro' pay for it? about the price of 3 tanks of petrol in his car

Yup thats the one! Bro's example is in black with gold lettering. The only thing his is missing is the bike pump, nothing a bit of autojumbling won't fix. He also has an mint 1975 Honda Goldwing, thats the very early spoke wheels and no fairings or bags, completely original and showroom. I have pictures on my camara but don't know how to upload onto here. Maybe when my Son gets home he will do it for me.
His Norman 'Nippy' sports the original Sachs engine. It has two speeds which are changed by handlebar twist, like the old vespa scoot. Fun in bucket loads, if your not in a hurry.
