Now my place has got its new straw hat and I've just finished painting the exterior walls and woodwork its time to think about refitting the bathroom (again). I did get one quote ealier this year for fitting and tiling out, wanted fantasy land money so will DIY with Matt.
Where's the best place in our region, or mail order, to purchase a new suite? I'm not spending much money on it and have budgeted around 1100 for the suite. Thanks.

Hi, I found a combination of Ebay & Bathstore pretty good.

Hi Hannah, yes I've had a look at Bathstore website, seems they have an sale on at the moment which ends 29/6/08. Wonder if this is like so many furniture stores which offer a massive 50% off in the 'last 2 days of sale'. Also Ebay, well I have seemingly just been shafted on Ebay! non delivery of my item, barsteward!

When we did ours I found Plumb City (Moreton Hall industrial Estate, Bury St Edmunds) to be the best in terms of quality V price ratio.

I would recommend going to the trade centres (Plumb World, Plumb Base etc) and getting brochures and quotes there. They then to be a lot cheaper than the "consumer showrooms".

You can either have style or economy. If the latter, the Screwfix catalogue looks promising.

Do not use Bathstore

Decide what you want and speak to Glenn at Plumb Center in Stowmarket

and ebay

and if you need to borrow tools you are more than welcome - you will learn a new respect for water

yes

Quite the worst 'cheap-stuff-dressed-up-as-stylish' bathroom equipment since Heritage!

Use a plumber's merchant. Plumb City at Moreton Hall is a good shout.

Go "Touch & Feel" the stuff, find what you like nail it down to "make & Model" then shop around.

Some of the cheap stuff is just that, just remember Acrilic baths can range in thickness from 4mm to 10mm, the 4mm buckle with the lightest of people.

Dont just go by look??? as I say find exactly what you want then do the buying putting merchants up against each other, you'll soon get an idea where the bottom is (and its not necessarily on the WC lol).

Tomorrow we are in Diss, so will have a look at Ridgeons offerings and Jewsons is on other side of road. Thanks for some good advise. Will try some of the others next week when my haggling skills are polished up a little.

yikes the H word

we inherited a Heritage shower and it is a shocking POS - from the nooks and crannies that harbour mould, the "chrome" waste and the complicated seals that don't - I need to lie down

went for Matki when we did the main bathroom
