There was a fatal in Maldon yesterday next Tesco involving a young child and a car - apparently a Porsche.

Hope no-one from here was involved.

Very sad to hear - thoughts go out to families of those involved.

I've had an update - details are still vague.

Alleged that Driver wasn't the owner - but car was in for work at a garage.

Very sad, but will be interesting to see how it plays out.

EDIT - to remove some details.

Condolences to the family.

The 414 really is an awful road.

If that is the case the accident is even more bad news for the family impacted by this. The car shouldn't have been there.

I drove past the scene just as the first Paramedic and police car arrived... It was absolutely horrific.

The lad had been knocked off a silver childs scooter which was lying in the middle of the road along with one of his shoes and his body had travelled some 50 yards or more further down the road before coming to rest. The Porsche was facing oncoming trafic on the same side of the road close to where the child was lying. There was damage to the bonnet and front spoiler. Several cars had already stopped and sombody had partially covered his body with a blanket.

I'd guessed from the distance he'd been flung and the amount of blood on the road it was pretty serious, but had no idea he'd been killed until later on.

Time for a quiet moment to reflect and think of his family and his friends frown
