a friends 16 yo has left home in canada Anything he can do?

my friends 16 yo left home friday, for a boy! is there anything he can do?

i fear there is nothing.

any help greatly appreciated!

Three simple things. One is contact if known the boy's parents and try to arrange a meeting.

Talk with their own child or witha child councellor and have constructive dialogue over growing issues, child to adult transition responsibilities and the risks in life today of being irrational.

Does your friend and wife spend time with their daughter as parents without judging, but as caring parents not just barking do's and don'ts???

she is now in touch and the lines of communication are open.

basically she has found a way to leave home bum off someone else and basiclly drop out of school.

nothing my mate can do about it!

I have just gone through something similar with my 18 year old son here in Canada and at 18 you as a parent ceas to be of concern as far as the law goes!! However at 16 there are still legal avenues open if they want to go down that route.

honestly, i dont mean to tell them how to be a parent, but maybe a bit of "tough love" would be a good answer here. if they let her make some mistakes and pay for them herself a bit, she might wisen up a bit or she will learn nothing.

she is back no and not in school, not going back till febuary i.e. next semmester.
