Beaches

Children are off next week so guess it's about time I explore the local coastline with them, anyone have any suggestions as to which beaches are nice? and which ones to avoid!!

Eastbourne and bournemouth are really nice but will be busy! Beautiful coastline at Lulworth Cove for walks etc in Dorset! Beauliegh although isn't on the coast it is really pretty and has new forest ponies everywhere!

Littlehampton is ok and only just over an hour to get there

There always seems to be rich deposits of females with very little in the way of clothing at Bournemouth, plus the sand is nice!

Last bh went to Boscombe and had brekkie at the urban beach cafe overlooking the beach. In the afternoon went back to Bournmouth main and drove down to sandbanks stopping briefly at a few beaches en route.

I would recommend West Wittering, this is National Trust Area. It is a very big beach and Grass headland. Good facilities, lots of space for the kids and you can take BBQ along. There is also an very large area of dogs.

I'll second West Wittering. It's a stunningly beautiful area, and is not usually very crowded. So it is a perfect spot to take the kids.

One thing to remember when visiting the south coast, if the suns shing leave early, very early. Or else you wil be sat in traffic.

And this. Depending on where you're going home to, avoid the A31 -> M27 route like the plague. You will be sat in ALOT of traffic for a long time. Kids will get grouchy, you will get bored.

Last time i went to Ringwood, then very briefly onto the A31, Fordingbridge, Salisbury, and from there you can head in a number of directions. It's further to drive (for me) but it was constant progress, and the roads are more fun than a motorway!

Goto Tuckton near Christchurch, then get the foot ferry out to Mudeford Beach. Great area and the kids will love the boat too.

It is sand. Not only that, but you have the choice of the beach that looks into (the stunningly beautiful) Chichester harbour, or you can look out onto the English Channel.

And... it is rarely crowded.
