Thanks,

Vince - 07912 418208. Corgi registered (or whatever it is these days). Installed my boiler at a very good price, and serviced it last year. Top guy.

Thanks for the tips guys. Boiler was leaking but no recent service meant insurance would only stop leak not effect a full repair. Before I could post back I got recommended a chap called Derek Leonard. Not local per se but travels through to Alton. No call out charge. Checked out a few other things I wanted lookig at and hasn't gone overboard in suggesting replacement parts. All in all seems a decent heating guy although so far only done a fault find without install of parts as yet.

Good to have reliable local contacts though for next time!

Fault diagnosed - leaky heat exchanger and slight corrosion onto burner. Plus a lack of knowledge meant our mains fed system was at zero pressure so has caused a leak on a cylinder a-top the unvented hot cylinder.

Unfortunatey, emergency home insurance service only covered to stop the leak not effect a repair per se, with the solution being to drain the system or turn off the boiler.

Derek did some research and got prices for me but actually recommended I call Potterton directly as they do an out of warranty service where they will repair the system for a fixed price which would probably be less than his cost. Job booked in £345 for all labour and parts plus 12 month warranty with unlimited call-out. Retail part was £280! Thumbs up to Derek Leonard. He works down the M3 and A3 corridor from Isleworth to Southampton if anyone needs him.

I could really do with a reliable guy (gal?) as well to have a look at/service my hot water supply/boiler. Anyone know of anyone near Aylesbury, Bucks?
