Hi Guys,

Does anyone know of a good Chinese takeaway (either collection or delivered) local to Lightwater???
Been here for a year, however have been unable to track one down locally.

There's two in bagshot. One good one not so good IMHO. Hong Kong 97 for me isn't as good as the other (can't remember the name of it). She always remembers mine and my gf order and name. Also asks me how my friends are who also use them.

I quite like Mei's Kitchen in Lightwater but assume you've tried that by now? Others worth trying: The Ming restaurant in Windlesham (on the A30 opposite the Windmill) is good but much pricier than your average take-away. I also rate the Jade Fountain in Sunningill and Hyns in South Ascot... enjoy!

Was very unimpressed by the food at the Bejing.

Mings on the A30 Windlesham (great name!) is good but collection only and quite pricey (had crispy chilli beef at the weekend - really nice).

My favourite those is the China Garden in Camberley (in the row of small shops facing the A30 on the left, just after the VW garage, before the leisure centre). Well priced and really fresh food. I ordered a fish curry and received a full fresh fish (head tail etc - full works) wrapped in newspaper, curry sauce in a box and rice in a box. That's good to be a good start.

No wonder I couldn't find it, it's called the Old Thai House! Really, really good if you haven't tried it.

Found it on google maps:

that looks more like the ingredients for a fish curry than the final product! wink

Have eaten there myself though and can confirm it's very good indeed!

Ooooh, The Jade is amazing. I have never had so much as a bad dish from there, and we have been eating there it opened.

In terms of takeaway i am a Hong Kong 97 (in bagshot) person, New China (the other side of the road) is a little bland in comparison.

And HK97 make a better Blackbean sauce. biggrin
