We have some friends over from Ireland for the weekend from Fri 4th Nov to Mon 7th Nov. We have various things lined up and I thought a day out in Oxford on Saturday before the firework display in St Albans on Saturday evening.

I need some suggestions for fun things to do in Oxford. When we took them to Cambridge last time over we went for a punt up the Cam and saw the colleges. Looking for something like that - not too high brow!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thank you.

I was just there yesterday.

Pitt Rivers Museum...

Definitely worth it in my opinion - walk straight through the natural history museum into the Pitt Rivers collection in the back.

I know you said not too high brow, but the Ashmolean Museum is well worth a visit.

You canhire rowing boats in Oxford too but by November the Thames may have to much water pushing through for it to be any fun.

We recently visited the Ashmolean Museum and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Punting, or eating for that matter... The Cherwell Boathouse.

Beer, track down the Turf Tavern - Not easy to find, but well worth it.
