Anyone know why the A3 was closed this evening?
Discussion
Cycling home from work today, the A3 was closed off just after Elephant and Castle, from the junction with the A3204, past Kennington tube station, down to the junction with the A23.
I'd guess it was shut for about half a mile in each direction, with all the side roads and pavements actually taped off with crime scene tape.
All I could see at the E&C end was the back of a Ford Ka with the bonnet up, and a recovery truck in front of it. I suppose it might have been the final stages of clearing up a major accident, but even if that was the case, I don't see why they would close the pavements off on both sides of the road as well as the actual road?
Does anyone know what had happened?
