Belvedere Pub/Restaurant, advice pls

Hello All,

Is the Belvedere somewhere you would take a small group of friends for a casual dinner on a Saturday night?

The menu looks good and seems to cater for most tastes BUT I've heard it's a bit of a "pick up joint" and non of my friends are on the pull. I also know people that drink in there but don't usually stay for dinner. (get your minds out of the gutter boys, I'm sure they aren't all just cheap dates!!)

Any opinions would be much appreciated please.

It gets very busy in there at the weekends, I would not recommend it for a quiet dinner.

It does get very busy there, even more so now since Club 1 opened up- seems to be a pre drinking venue.
If you like the menu how about the sister pub 'The Windmill' in Sunningdale/Bagshot?
Sorry just looked and the menus aren't the same (they used to be). Still i've never had a bad meal at The Windmill.

Thank you, just had lunch at the Windmill, very nice.

Tonight we might roll into the Half Moon, unless Mr 13th insists on the Belvedere, Lunch was my ccall Dinner is his.

On a side note have you tried Ascot Grill yet- I went last week and it was amazing!

I take my other half there all the time its great. Never knew it was some sorded pick up point. But then how does one define a pick up point. If you want a crazy place, hit crazy bear in beaconsfield after hours. Thats an eye opener

No it wasn't, I've not been to The Bee since it's been taken over or heard anything about it.

Im not going to name the place as it just prob didn't suit my tastes for that night and although I have had other hicups thrre, sometimes it get's it spot on but never had a problem with lunch, it's just the evening meals that hsve occassionally not been up to scratch.

I have been to the Bee a couple of times recently, it did definitely go down hill but it seems to be recovering slightly. The Belvedere can be a bit of an Ascot girls/Polo boys pub at the weekend but haven't noticed it as a pickup point so much, but then i definitely do not qualify for what the local lasses are after.

Was pleasantly surprised by the Brickmakers recently it also seems to be improving at the moment.

I like the Brickies too esp for lunch but I think there was a wedding on there on Saturday, not sure just something I heard in passing and thought we'd try something different.

There are good and bad stories everywhere though. For example, a few years back we took a friend to The Windmill in Windlesham. We chose it because of all the great reviews but it was terrible. We waited ages for food and then the main was brought out before the starter. They took the mains away and the starters arrived 5 mins later only half cooked. The mains were then returned but obviously the same plates of food just stuck in an oven to keep them warm as everything had dried out. We didn't bother with a desert as we'd been there a couple of hours already by that point. When they brought the bill over I told the waiter I was only going to pay for the drinks as the food & service had been terrible and he just said "don't blame you mate" and walked off. No apology or anything.
I've never heard any other bad review about the place, certainly not that bad.

OK Name and SHAME; just went for another lunch (I really don't learn do I? ) which was again awful, my lunch was totally wrong and they AGAIN didn't have the wine on the menu; despite taking the order and coming back 20 mins later.............

How difficult is a cheese and onion sandwich and a prosecco! or any type of sparking wine? Beyond the Half Moon it seems. YET AGAIN!

I ended up with a bowl of chips and no sandwich, after over an hour I would have lost the will to live if it wasn't for my companion. Although we did have a laugh with the other patients, erm I mean patrons!

They then robbed Mr 13th.



(edited to clarify that Mr 13th wasn't robbed just fleeced and as they are obviously so wealthy that they can continually under perform and therefore must be trying to make a huge fortune....... turn into a little one very shortly! ! Just my opinion. I wouldn't want them to sue me)

Come on spill the beans which pub was this?

Went to the Rose an Crown in Virginia Water the other day-was very good!

A little gem that I like now is the Red Lion in Thorpe- granted it's not the nicest pub in the world but for a decent home cooked meal I think it's great! Has football on TV too so a bonus for me!!
