Is stuffed between Camberley and Lightwater, accident is northbound, but both ways are solid

the number of accidents on this stretch defies belief .. best explanation so far is that it's built on the site of an ancient burial ground

Took me 3 hours to get back from Goodwood because of this, over an hour from Farnborough to Wokingham, and that wasn't even using the Blackwater roundabout..

@SurreyTravel: TRAVEL:Reports of a multi-vehicle accident on M3 Northbound J3 Lightwater to J2 M25. Already looking slow on the sensors from 4 Camberley.

Does anyone have any idea why this junction, within a mile of my home, is such an accident hot spot?

I was wondering if, as it seems to happen more in the summer months, it's people heading for the airports and have limited motorway driving experience?

Any thoughts?



ETA: I don't discount johnvthesecond's explanation re an ancient burial ground, it was certainly dead when I was growing up around here. OMG it hurts to realise that I am older than the M25

I am convinced it is that the slip-road heading towards London where both lanes join the M-way in a pretty short distance. You seem to end up with too many cars in one lane with some just going far to fast.
