Emergency Shed Required
Discussion
Evening all..
My current daily motorway shed has suffered a catastrophic HGF and is officially dead. Have several important work commitments next week that I need to get to so need to find myself a replacement shed ASAP.
Budget - £1k, diesel, and not smaller than a Focus, preferably a bit larger. Don't care about mileage etc as long as its mechanically sound and has a reasonable amount of MOT on it. Not bothered about rent, I can sort that.
So far seen a W plated Passat which was a nail, and a X plated Saab 9-3 which was very tidy, but it was a dodgy back street home dealer - something wasn't right so I followed my instincts and walked away.
If anybody has a car for sale which fits the bill, or indeed knows someone that has who can complete the sale this weekend let me know! Open to suggestions from Autotrader etc which are in the Berks area too if you feel like killing time on my behalf!
Thanks in advance
ETA - I'm not just being lazy, but have trawled A/T and Evil Bay relentlessly today and am getting a bit frustrated! Options seem to be Pug 306/406 neither of which I'm too keen on (the latter may be an option if push comes to shove) or older Audi A4's which in principle I like, but none have more than a months ticket which doesn't sit right with me...

Might be worth giving either Tony Bailey at Donnington Cars here in Reading www.donningtoncars.com/ or Charles Norman at Charvil Car Sales now in Fleet http://www.charvilcarcentre.co.uk/ a call.
Both long established (read older) used car salesmen with lots of contacts and not desperate to make a sale.
Not used either myself but neighbours speak highly of them and both seem regular guys.
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe

If you get stuck, and don't want to rush into buying something you don't necessarily want, I can lend you a Pajero for the week.
Not posh, nor fast, but a comfortable drive
That is an exceptionally generous offer Blues, thanks very much - one of the reasons I've love PH! Fortunately I've made a purchase...Not posh, nor fast, but a comfortable drive

Went to see a nice fella in Caversham this afternoon, sealed the deal outside stupid Ebay bidding for £1100 notes. Maybe a touch over par for what it is, but its bloody tidy, serviced last month at a franchised dealer, 11 months ticket, 4 months rent, and had a new engine 30K ago as some Doris tried to go through a ford in it and wrecked the engine.
All in all it looks like it should last me a few years of the motorway grind *touches wood*.
Thanks for the messages of help and ideas, cheers gents!

Hi Dave,
I've trained it into work today as in the office. Got the bloody thing booked into Mr Clutch on the Oxford Rd for later, and they seem to think it'll be good to go tomorrow, so hopefully no too much hassle. *crossesfingers*
My grandfathers advice seems to ring true at this point - All used cars were sold for a reason...
