Reading parking

I need to be in Reading next week on friar street. It looks like there is a carpark on Garrard street but this is close to the station. Will I get parked in there for 9am and is it pay on foot by credit/debit card?

I always park at Matalan (free) and walk in.

I think your best bet will be the Civic Centre/Broad Street Mall car park. It's pay by Debit/Cash jobbie on the way out, you definatley get a space, and the Broad Street Mall is a one minute walk from Friar Street.

There is another, not very well known carpark on Garrard St. As I'm on expenses, I've never used it but Mrs Puggit swears by it. Just as you approach the physical NCP carpark (the entrance for this is at the back of the carpark), there is a lane on the left with parking signs.

Last time Mrs Puggit used it she paid £8 for the day.

Garrard Street is expensive, as is the Broad Street Mall. Tbh, id stick it in the Riverside, pay with Visa at the pay point, also it doesn't feel so.. backstreet as Garrard street.

Incidentally.. On the riverside, if you pay visa, on the machine I use, I've found out, by accident, that you don't have to use the Chip and Pin bit. Just stick the card in after the ticket and it processes it without issue... it is a lot faster.

Another cheapskate option is to park at the Forbury Retail Park (DFS etc). 5min walk to Friar St. Signs say customer parking only but they don't enforce it.

Got 'lost' round the diversions and found myself on Valpy St parking in the Forbury St carpark, figure that one out. Its a little manned one and £12 for the whole day. It was half empty when I went back in the afternoon.

Careful on this one, my mates had 3 or 4 tickets now (binned them though, they're from a private company).

Be careful, I've seen them too but any ticket could be just ripped up as its probably unenforceable
