Supercar Sunday........looks good...... anyone going ?

It'll be interesting to see what turns up at Brooklands as it's the first year of this event. I'm popping over to Elvetham Heath's car show in the morning to amble around that for an hour and then hope to head over to Brooklands in time to watch the "demonstration" on the MB World track after that. Not sure if I'll stay to watch the second test hill session, although it'd be interesting to see which cars brave it!

It's usual museum entry prices and is an all day event (it's not a brooklands breakfast day AFAIK) - free entry for trust members of course.

They seem to get lots there so maybe don't need the people who take all the goverment hand out's and the tight wads.......each to there own.

I have to say that I am happy to pay for a good day out and am looking foward to it.

I agree with the Sarge,you do get a whole lot more at Brooklands than Goodwoood like a

historic aeroplane display in its original setting,and Brooklands era cars in the sheds.

How many times do you think people want to pay to see the same museum?

They have far less people at their events amd take far less money than Goodwood and yet they charge.

With the Brooklands Breakfast clubs I think you're right (and that may be what you're talking about) and I agree their strategy seems wrong for those. I think they have an opportunity with those, because they open the gates earlier, to charge a special far lower rate for those turning up early (and/or offer more of a range of breakfast options, like not having the full cooked breakfast) and return to the usual museum charge after their normal opening time.

However with the full day events... The Auto Italia day is always packed (even when the weather sucked like this year), the Mini day was also packed when I went to that this year, the MOPAR day seemed pretty busy when I popped along to that last year. This day is more akin to those - a full day event - of course it will depend what supercars they get to turn up as to how successful it is. So I think it's unfair to say they have far less people at their events - it's very true of the breakfast clubs, but certainly not always the case.

I paid up for a 'small' event which was the 964 Porsche day a few weeks back. I was a little underwhelmed if I'm honest. The other thing to consider is ticketing and crowd control would be very difficult as the exhibits are so open with such easy access.

The only way I can see it working in that way is in through Campbell gate and park in the little car park. They would then have to block/man all the gates too and you wouldn't be able to get that many cars in there.
