Good running kit shops

Where are the biggest ones near me/in our area? I want some of these barefoot running shoes (oxymoron I know!) but need to try them on first as I have feet roughly the same shape as Donald Duck!

Try Sweat Shop. They have a shop in Woking and I see also one in Reading.

Sweat Shop will do a running assessment for free and recommend you exactly the right running shoes

Failing that, Go Outdoors in Basingstoke has a pretty good range if you know exactly what you need.

Watched a Panorama programme on running shoes recently. All that 'you run this ways so you should ahve these type of shoes' was proven not to make the slightest difference.

That panorama also broadcast a whole load of information that is wrong.. there opinions and findings are not all necessarily true.

There are a good range of running shops around my area. Alton Sports are pretty good, and they have a 15% off voucher for sports shoes. Found in Farnham, Alton (duh!), and a few other places local to here....

Can vouch for Sweat Shop in Woking. Got mine from there with an assessment too.

Good return/refund policy and i think they have a promotion on at the moment.

I used to get a pain inn the calf in one leg and in my thigh in the other leg. An assessment at Sweatshop identified the problem (flat feet as we used to call it) and running shoes were recommended to address the problem. Result was instant relief. No more leg pain at all.

Accepted but on that programme they just wanted evidence from manufacturers and there was effectively none.

TBH the barefoot running thing has been going on for a lnog time and I think the novelty will help me do a few more miles (as running isn't the most exciting!)

Still not found anywhere that does the barefoot running stuff though. Just found a load of people who think its the best thing since sliced bread!

I thought Sweatshop did do the barefoot running shoes (does that even make sense?). I'm sure I had a marketing email from them a while back talking about them.

Try Fitstuff in Guildford, great shop. Paul the owner is a great bloke. They do the whole gate analysis etc. I have seen those vibram 5 finger "barefoot" running shoes in there if that's what you were after?

I had my last fitting at Moti in Reading. They are very helpfull and parking is easy in the new multi storey round the corner.

So you want something like Vibram 5 fingers? I have a pair of Newtons which I got from Sweatshop and they are great, maybe start with minimal trainers and then go full barefoot?
