has anyone been up/down since the speed bumps were removed? are they still gone, and is it worth an early morning trip? thanks

Whilst this thread is here, and on a similar note as it's the surrounding area, is it me or has the entire A24 stretch running into Dorking (from Leatherhead) been reduced to 50mph on a permanent basis? Drove down there last week and on hitting the bit where it goes into the dual carraigeway noticed that the national signs that were there had gone and it's now 50 all the way to Dorking.

well we did it anyway .. probably a bit too much lycra around to get the best of it, but definitely worth ticking off ..

Yes, humps still removed, have been up and down more than once since the cycling

They are putting the humps back in, starting today.

humps now well and truly back, though I cannot comment on their 'driveability' as I was in the 4x4 when I encountered them a couple of days ago

I cycled up there on Sunday morning and some chap was grumbling about meeting a bunch of Caterhams blatting up the hill treating it as a hillclimb whilst he was going down the hill in the mist. He wasn't happy!

Unusually, speed bumps are probably the only realistic speed management option there as it is high risk even in the early mornings. Shame really, but it makes sense.

as in it was a hill and we were driving up it? .. no 'blatting' involved, I can assure you.

Drove up there a couple of days ago, the new surface is lovely but they have put in three or so small tarmac only bumps. No problem with 'high' profile tyres on the 15s of my E36.

They look like they can be easily scraped off in time for the Paralympics.

The only thing that ruined it was the numpty in the car ahead of me. Going up he shot round the first hairpin and I follow about 50 yards back but come across him stopped in the road and pointing at things to his passengers out of the window. I brake sharply, hang back and wait until he has pulled away and gone round the second hairpin and I go for it, gently as I have my kids in the car, and as I come round he has stopped again.

This time a give him a quick beep as he is obviously unaware that he is on a road used by others and overtake whereupon he gives me the finger which my poor 12 year old daughter took the brunt of

I really don't understand some people.

The "Mickleham bends" have been 50 for quite a while now with regular camera van

sitting in the middle just after a bend to catch those ignoring limit.

A few years back, we organised 20+ Ferraris, Lambos, Porkers, a Ford GT and other nice beasties (many of whom were driven by PHers) to go up to Headley Court to take patients out for a bit of a blat before Christmas.

There was a senior policewoman up there at the time delivering some Christmas presents when the first guys came back up and warned people to be careful of the camera van on the dual-carriageway.

Said policewoman moved away, getting her mobile out. By the time the next lot of cars came back up, the camera van had left!
