Stolen mountain bike in Reading

Well, you never know...

Stolen last night in RG1, my Commencal Meta 5.5.2 mountain bike (2008 model, large frame).

Pretty much identical to this (not my pic) but with extra scratches and dinks and whatnot, and no front brake fitted...

How was it stolen?

Would had fun trying to ride it with
no pedals

Was it secure or taken from your place
Am working in Reading outside station tomorrow so will keep a look out

Sucks indeed. It was d-locked and chained to another bike, and the whole rigmarole was chained to a post. They've cut through the post, but there's no obvious evidence of how they did the chains/locks - I suspect the whole lot has just been picked up and carried off. I say 'just carried off', but it was from a fully enclosed rear garden, completely secluded from view unless you were either a neighbour or you'd come through 2 gardens just for a look.

But they have left some of their tools, so maybe something will come from that.

My bike got stolen on the weekend too, near the Bell and Dragon pub. It was only an old 2005 Kona Hoss Deelux, but I was still pretty annoyed. Luckily they only took the Hoss and not my brand new Blur LT as that was locked with a new york lock, whereas the Kona was chained and they managed to break that.

I live right near there, guess I better check the girlfriends bike is still locked away safely!

My girlfriend had two bikes stolen from taplow train station near maidenhead, and one from maidenhead (Not so far from you)
we are 100% sure that we saw two of them at the local car boot sale... approached the guys selling, they got really touchey when I asked where they get their stock from and started getting aggressive, so we left and called the police, who didnt even turn up as there was no way to prove it...
My advice, your bike is quite uncommon, so go to your local car boot and see if it is there!
