Hi guys and girls,

Looking for some inspiration

I organise a monthly s2k meet (over on that other forum  ). For nearly 2 years now we have been meeting in the Wheatsheaf (VW on the A30). The car park is great, we never have any problems getting us together round a few tables (usually have about 10-20 people)but the food is really hit and miss.

I need to find a put that'll meet all the above requirements but still within about 10 mins of the Wheatsheaf (we have peeps coming from all directions so I don't want to put them off by moving too far). Don't want formal dining area as not every eats and we like to be able to shift around.

Any suggestions??

Try the Belvedere, which is on the road to Ascot. Turn right off A30 opposite Wentworth Estate towards Ascot, 1/2 mile on the right. Big (ish) car park and the foods not too bad.

I thought about that Nigel, always had good food in there. A bit put off though as it's a bit more restauranty, not so condusive for wandering around/standing up talking to people, or those not eating.

The Cricketers at Warfield? About another 10 minutes away, similar sort of pub by the sound of it, plus it has a reasonable sized car park. It did have a website at some point, i'll have to have a look for it...

There is the one just off the 'peanut' roundabout between Windsor and Ascot, cant think of the name though, food not so good but big car park and big bar area.

Not sure how close it is, but we always use the Shire horse inn, on the A4 near Maidenhead.

Good food, good beer, and huuuuge carpark

Went their a few weeks ago for some grub, I'd say keep it simple if you want nice food, my carbonara was really good, some of the others wern't that impressed with what they got though.

Parking is crap too whenever it's busy, there's not enough for the size of pub IMO.

Another forum used to meet at the Crispin once a month but has recenlty moved to the Wheatsheaf at VW and everyone prefers it. The food is hit and miss at the Crispin, sometimes the service can be poor too and as has been mentioned the parking is crap.
