Drag Runs ( 1/4 mile ) possible meet next season.
Discussion
Hi Guys (and Ladies)
Following on from the PH Rolling Road session down at Charlie's on 13th December, someone mentioned taking vehicles to run them down the 1/4 just to see if all those horses can produce results and get the power to the ashphalt.
Well this would best be left for next year (2009 Season)
We could meet at Santapod for a test & tune day normally limited numbers
of around 100 - 120 for between £60-£80 with unlimited runs. (Pre-booked)
Or attend Run What Ya Brung (RWYB) meets which are cheaper (Track Entry fee plus £20 sign on )
These are held at Santapod & Avonpark Raceway at many weekends throughout the year.
You need to bring driving license and a helmet if you expect to exceed 100mph through the traps.
We could run a little sweepstake for quickest ET over the 1/4.
And you get to take some good photo's of the action.
(I always take my camera and lenses)
Anyone interested I will re-post in the new season.
It's a good day out however you will be supprised how slow your quick vehicle is down the track.
The art in getting traction from launch and mashing those gears through the 1/4 takes some getting used to.
My friends on Rebel-V8 are always up for a challenge.
Regards Ricki

It's great day out and on weekend events I camp on site or book up in local hotel depending on how the mood takes me.
Gary Picnic is at Avonpark next year and you also have the Mopar Euro Nationals at Santapod, however these are for American Motors.
The RWYB are sometimes two day events.
It's great place to meet up with people and put faces to names and cars to faces, plus just shooting the breeze.
Roger's GT at Avonpark this year.

This quick Beetle over did the boost...

Kelly's supercharged Roush Mustang

Any takers? and yes the wheels are off the ashphalt

I would be well up for trying to snap something in my car, should be able to get a good 30ft time or whatever it is, you know before power or anything comes into play
It's 0 - 60ft time
Then the 1/8
And then the 1/4 (Providing you have not deposited your engine internals all over the strip.)
My Best was 1.50 0-60ft
Best ET was 11.07 on slicks but runs 12s on street radials.
However Stateside the same combo gets low 10's
I ran 11.07 with low compression on 3 cylinders with just over
600 Rear Wheel HP and slipping off the line
Now shooting for low 10s with new 5.5L JDM motor.
I will be up for helping with stageing and other chit like tyre pressures.
Normally have quite a bit of kit such as compressor etc. so if we can pit together we can all muck in and make agood day out or weekend of it.
