Given the above budget, what would you choose? Would also need to be used for short commute - 8 mile round trip each day?

Come on - get creative.........

haha or a griff
month or so back i purchased a meg r26 exactly a year old with lux pack and black wheels
and 12k on the clock for £10.5k in the spec i have it costs £24995 new but i can honestly say its the best handling car i have owned the ride is quite hard though ah well lol and with the 270bhp re map it has it certainly shifts plus there arnt to many around so its a bit different so far i have managed to clock up 3000 miles in a month and half its now on 15.7 k i must stop driving it.
good luck with your choice

Caterham 7 with full weather equipment? You could get a road-legal racer for £10k.

Honda S2000.

and before you say anything...drive one then decide.
ultra reliable, cheap to run, great handling really connected to the road and that grin factor when you hit v-tec.

downsides...errm

Yeah - that might do it. So far the shortlist contains:

E39 M5
Porsche 928GT
Cerb
Clio V6

Not keen on rice buners...

Am waiting for estimate to come in.....but it'll be expensive, all down the left hand side, bonnet, bumper, front suspension, 2 wheels etc etc.
