I am making a short visit to the Wokingham area from the States this weekend and need somewhere good for lunch with friends on Sunday. Having not lived in the area for 3 years, I no longer know where good food can be found these days. Wokingham or south of Reading area will do just fine. I can't find the old pub guides that were on PH and don't have the time trawl them anyway, so thanks for your help here! As for price - what price a nice Sunday Lunch these days? I am that out of touch...

Ah yes, both of those used to be good too, so maybe things haven't changed that much! The Warren doesn't look too pricey really (given current dollar : pound value) - is it the same sort of price at the G&D?

I think its around the same although if I remember rightly the G&D (and Warren) get very busy on a Sunday.

If your feeling flush, then I would suggest Ruschetta's near Wokingham High street.

Well, thanks for all the recommendations guys. We ended up at the G & D in Swallowfield and it was great. Lovely little pub in the warm sunshine that was just perfect. To cap it off was a lovely black F430 Spider in the car park cooling off when we were leaving - not usually a fan of Ferraris, but it looked like the ideal car for the day!

As it turned out, I also visited The Warren later in the day for a swift half. The food looked good but I was already full. Impressive beer selection - I couldn't resist a cheeky Timothy Taylor. That pub has a strange, modern decor that we agreed looked like it was trying too hard.

Thanks again!
