Railway sleepers
Discussion
Suddenly decided today that my life would be much better if my garden had some railway sleepers in it, I know there have been a couple of threads on here about them... So I was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction to get some good value used examples.

Hi Mark,
Second hand railway sleepers are very frowned upon these days as they carry all sorts of nasty contaminants in them that seep into the soil and can cause problems.
I only use new ones now, similar price anyway.

Good luck

Hi, they have loads - prices ranging from 20 to 24 quid depending on new or reclaimed. Price will also vary depending on quantity required...topsparks said:

Just a bump on this thread to say many thanks to James (above) I saw this thread just in time, I was going to buy some sleepers online but James did a much better deal...
...So I picked them up last night

That's some impressive springs you got on that truck. Twelve sleepers and they don't look compressed at all ...So I picked them up last night

They're not made out of Balsa are they?
