Looks like i've got a free week at the beginning of June and I want a week away.

Anyone any ideas? I've been online this morning and pretty much got myself tangled in ideas. Heading off with the scarf and a few others. Chilling out is the order of the day but without doubt, we'll be drinking most days.

I'm always wary of booking through package places as my experience says the hotels usually aren't up to much but happy to be proved wrong. I quite fancy somewhere in Europe to keep the flights short for a 7 day break but with having looked at Sri Lanka, Vegas and the Caribbean this morning - i'm already breaking my own rules.

Budget? No idea. Think about a grand - spending incl.

I have Le Mans the week after so it looks like June = good times.

If you want sunshine and booze, you can't go far wrong at this time of years with the Canaries. Quick flight and cheap. I was over in Lanzarotte a couple of years ago, and had a fantastic hotel. Last year had a week in Tenerife, and there is now an upmarket part of Playa de las Americas, which was very "you". Lots of good quality restaurants, bars, and i might have spotted some fine looking totty if it weren't for the fact that i don't look at that sort of thing (or so i was told at the time) paperbag

Flights are pretty cheap out to the states at the moment.

I had an e-mail from NetFlights.com and for flying with Delta, you can go to quite a few popular locations for less than £300 between mid May and mid June.

Apparently a flight from London to New York costs £248 and London to Vegas is £313.

Cheers gents. The hunt starts tonight with those recommendations.

Rob, stop making me think about Vegas - i'm not sure i'd make it home this time.....(especially as I didn't WANT to make it home last time smile)

David, any recommendations / hotel names much appreciated (if the holiday drinks haven't banished that information forever....drink)

Early summer i'd go for Cyprus, Malta, Canaries or North Africa... Western Europe will be full of retirees in June; assuming of course thats not what floats your boat? hehe

In Lanzarotte we stayed at hotel Jameos Playa. You can walk 10 minutes to the centre of the night life, it did great food, and the evening entertainment was so corny it was brilliant. It is not right on the beach, but two minutes walk and you are there, but it had lovely gardens and pools with waiters from the bar drink

Tenerife, the best hotels seemed to be off Avenue Las Americas to the seaward side here:

The land side is lovely bars restaurants and shops for the girlees.

Damn you, i've started thinking about holidays now banghead
