I really really need an epidural asap, are any of you an anesthesiologist or do any of you have a close family member, friend, partner, etc who may be able to help?

If not then i will head down to A&E this afternoon and just sit there for as many days as it takes...

Seriously Pete, if it is that bad, get yourself down to the nearest walk in centre. The one down here is excellent and you don't have to wait hours. Even if they just give you some painkiller, its got to be worth it.

We're coming past ish shortly, we have: monster ibuprofens from my Dad who gets back pain, Voltarol gel (works a treat on muscle type stuff) and if you can't drive and need to get somewhere i.e. to a hospital we can drop you off, be there in 20 mins..

I've got ibuprofen, cocodamol, codydramol, diclofenac, and diazepam.

The pain isn't a problem, i've lived with it for 12 years, the problem is that i need to get the muscles around my lumber region (especially L3 L4 L5 S1) to rrreeelllaaaxxx (just like Frankie said!).

Last time it was this bad (about 6 or 7 years ago) i had an epidural and then carried on with the diazepam and ibu's and within a couple of days i was 99% again. Right now i'm about 10% frown

I can sympathise as I've had spine pain (neck) forever too. Chiropractors help, a friend who's a cyclist swears by acupuncture having tried everything else for his lower back pain. Tried hang upside down, that's supposed to help too! And Berkshire Physio, about quarter of a mile away, really sorted my wife's back out.

Oh and I suppose it's the relaxation thing, beer works like nothing else, half a pint and the neck pain is usually 75% gone (or at least I'm noticing it 75% less)..

I've tried chiropractor, osteopath, two different types of acupuncture, nothing works for me other than exercise (which is why i normally swim about 5 miles a week).

Unfortunately my back has seized up, so i need to unseize it so that i can get back to normality and swimming and all the usual stuff. Hence the need for an epidural...

Must be bad if you need an epidural!

Have you tried a TENS machine?

Hope it eases soon for you.

As I already said to you, nothing has worked for my Dad's terminal back problems either - the epidural is the only thing that's worked for him.

I can find out who he used if you like, but he has had it done privately every time.

It does if you haven't got to this stage, i have tried the tens machine a few times when i have had my back niggling me and it has got rid of the pain.

But it won't help you at the moment you need to relax the muscles which are/have spasimed (sp) they are trying to hold it all together and causing more damage get some Diazapam first.

Pete, if you need help getting to A&E or something then give us a bell an I'll buzz over - free for rest of the day now. Was going to call but then thought your phone may be tantalisingly just out of reach and didn't want to be responsible for adding further pain to your pain.

Sorry things are still so bad. Good luck with A&E if that's what you do. Just raise hell - they'll do what you want just to get rid of you.
