As a result of this thread in the pedal power section, Dizeee, Swerni and I are possibly meeting up to go mountain biking Monday and/or Thursday evening on Holmbury Hill (between Guildford and Dorking, just off the A25).

Would anyone else care to join us? The plan would be to start at 7pm, ride single track for 1.5 to 2 hours, then grab a pint and a sandwich in the pub.

Erm, a little nervously, I may be in! I have an old and venerable bike, but it does well generally, and I'd love to find an excuse for getting a new bike...

...like I actuallly ride one now! biggrin

You're fitter than I am, so that should balance out the bike! hehe

Thursday is the day I usually head out with a couple of other guys, so we start at 6:30. They may not be around though. I'll send out an email closer to the time to find out, then we can set details from there.

Could you drop me an email & mobile through here, and I'll add you to the list?

I'm looking good for this Thursday Chris smile
Excellent!

I'll send an email out shortly. Thursdays we generally start at 6:30, although if the two original guys aren't available (and I know one isn't), then there's no reason not to make it a little later.

Probably can't make this Thursday, but I'm interested if this is semi regular ride.

Diz, I can join if you want to go for rides around our area in the evening. Over the years I probably have done every trail/path within 10 miles of us so you don't have to do the towpath..

So long as the kids aren't driving my wife too insane, I'm not travelling and the weather isn't too bad, I'm going out every Monday and Thursday. Fitness levels still aren't great, but they're better than they've been for 25 years (and I'm only 38 now), so I've got plenty of incentive to keep it going! smile

I'm happy going out solo in daylight, but once we're back to night riding, I'll only go out with other riders, so I'm keen to have numbers.

I night ride, along with my mates including in the middle of winter. And have been riding the downs and around Surrey for years, so have been down most tracks that are out there, but when ever you join with other riders, you usually find some new ones smile

Where do you live KP? We usually ride from our doorstep (because we can - same town as Diz), and can have a few jars and not have to worry about driving.

I'm in Epsom, so riding from the doorstep isn't really an option unless I want to put 10 miles in before I get to the fun stuff. I usually sling the bike on the roof and ride from either the YHA carpark on Holmbury Hill or next to the Plough in Coldharbour.

Next to the Hurtwood Inn is another good parking spot, car park about 100 metres behind the pub. They serve Surrey Hills beers smile

Yes, yes, dear boy. Don't worry!

Your absence this Thursday isn't going to stop me and others going out, though. The aim is to make this every Thursday. And every Monday. For those who want to. smile

We generally vary the venue from week to week, but there's always a reasonable amount of parking. It's just not usually tarmacced though, so not advisable for anyone who happens to have a bike rack for their Radical.

I'll email you in advance of next week with details. Are you around Monday next week, or just Thursday?

That's more like it! You can't mean Dorking, though? Ripley to Dorking alone is over 10 miles, and that's before you turn round to come back.

I don't think I want to go biking with THAT man, given what he thinks is all the same...;)

Don't worry. We'll tell him we're meeting in Shere, then leave him to wander friendless around Dorking!
