New car - well barge......
Discussion
After 2 years of ‘fun’ motoring in the Barchetta I have had to change from the ridiculous to the sublime – a Volvo V70.
FIAT was GREAT fun, looked fantastic and went like a scalded kitten but was not cutting it on long trips and was not ideal with 2 kids! Having spent almost 6 months contracting in Devon the miles were taking their toll on the Barchetta and I needed something more suitable to m'way driving - trouble is my contract finished a few weeks ago and due to 'financial constraints' has not been renewed!
I bought the Volvo on Monday this week for 3k - chuffed to bits with it! It is a 2.4 170bhp V70 SE, 80k with one owner from new (friend of mine) and full Volvo service history. It is not as quick off the mark as I am used to but does have bags of torque, also surprisingly handles more like a hatchback than a barge sized estate. I am planning on holding onto it for a couple of years and saving for a Chim or decent wedge next winter (contract market permitting).....
It needed a bit of cleaning (12 hours worth) but has come up quite nicely - alloys could do with a re-furb but otherwise a very straight car for the money; here are a few before and after piccies;

My sis has just bough a V70 to do the daily grind as she was racking up big miles (and therefore big bills) on her Rangey. Have to say though, she paid in the 4's for an older car than that so reckon you have got a sterling buy there for £3k
Having said that, is this a petrol one, hers is admittedly diseasel which seem to hold firmer pricewise ...I'd do what you did and save the dosh at purchase and not drive round in a clatterbox however.
Looks luvverly

- I was going to keep it 'stock' but keep thinking re-map, induction, Eibach progressive springs and poly bushes, s/s exhaust...........
