Where do i start looking ?

Can anyone suggest where to look for a cheap £200-£300ish small economical car. preferably something with an MOT. Almost anything will do.
As i can no longer afford to commute (at 12mpg) in my baby. frown

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

If you're close to Ascot, then have a look at AlfaWorld: http://www.alfaworld.co.uk/90065/berkshire_stock.h...

They usually have some stock that's not on the website, which is cheaper.

No - they used to be the Ford dealer (H Mays) - literally just around the corner from the Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships smile

If you get no joy there, then its a roadside job, quite often on my travels will see a cheapo parked up with 'for sale' signs.

What's your top budget?

A free car would be my best result tumbleweed

But, £200-£300 realistically. could possibly stretch £400 if it's worth it !!

Steve - the 'cheaper' stuff is parked around the back - all the nice stuff is at the front. And some won't have prices on them either - just a matter of asking.

And as Nigel says - the other option is a roadside jobbie. So, as you're in the area - head past Bagshot on the A30 towards Camberley. There's always one on the left hand side - just after Notcutts garden centre (on the left). If you get to the garage on the left and PennyHill on the right, then you've gone too far. He nearly always has a car there around £300 - £500.

If he has a car there which is out of your price - then there's still no harm in calling him / seeing him and asking what else he has, or can get that's cheaper. There's ALWAYS something there - and he either turns stuff over VERY quickly - or has a stockpile of them somewhere and swaps them over every 2 or 3 days. It's very rare that there's not a car there.

WTF, Don't you guys sleep ??

Went past last night, nothing out.
and took a slight detour on the way home this evening, still nothing.
I'll go past again on saturday on my way to ascot.
I rang H Mays last night, nothing at the moment, but he has some cars due in on friday. He took my mobile number and said he would call if he gets anything he can sell cheap.

thanks for the tips
Steve

Presumably you've tried this option (adjusting the postcode accordingly)? If you ignore all the stupid £75 ads, there's still a reasonable selection on there (and some of them even have less that 100k miles on the clock!)...
