Does anyone know a brakes specialist or somewhere that can fit braided lines either near Maidenhead, Marlow and Reading at the weekend, or Newbury during the week?

I know Pete's asking someone for me, but any other advice would be helpful.

We even bought a 10mm slotted ring spanner (specifically a brake tool) and the brass is soft and the thread is tight so the damn thing doesn't want to come off frown

Short of cutting the fitting off and putting a new brake fitting on the pipe and re-flaring the pipe after the cut, any other ideas?

robbie, pete, ive not tried this on brake lines but impossible to remove brass to steel and brass to brass connections in plumbing are easily "cracked" using gentle heat from a blowlamp, does'nt take a lot of heat but 100% sucess rate so far

I have thought that seeing as I work near Basingstoke I could pick up your flaring kit as a last resort.

I've lined up a few places around Newbury I'm planning on calling on Monday, oh and I've ordered 2 Eagle F1s from Event Mobile and the mount. Hopefully it all comes together for Scotland.

Pete did mention using heat but neither of us have a blowlamp, although I think one of the sides is comprehensively round now unfortunately frown . I will definitely bear this in mind next time.

I do have a small blowtorch if you decide to have another go at doing yourself. I'm in south Reading

robbie, if you have the space "mole grips" will do the trick with heat, although you dont have much weekend time between, now, sunday service and scotland smile
see you next sunday

Heat is a good way to go, for sure, but in some circumstances not even that helps... I resorted to a hack saw in the end to remove the old lines.

Bought some braided lines and got the hard lines made up for a fiver, took 30 mins to fit along with bleeding, only need a 10m and 19m spanner.

The main pipe itself isn't corroded, it's just the brass nut on the end of it is too soft and has been done up too tightly to remove. I'm fairly sure you can cut the main line just above the nut, add a new nut and flare the pipe around the end (if you have the tools).
