Supercar club based in Sussex & Surrey - what do you think?
Discussion
Attention fellow PH members, I need your help please.
I have the opportunity to help expand an existing London based Supercar club into Sussex & Surrey. Having spoken to all sorts of alleged industry professionals it suddenly dawned on me why not ask direct the most knowledgeable bunch of people out there, the Piston Heads members.
On reading previous discussions it seems obvious that although you like the concept of a supercar club not everyone lives in central London. Why waste your allocated mileage & time driving the car home?
Is the key to keeping you the customer happy delivering the car by trailer to your door?
We need 40 members to make the investment viable. Fees are industry norm, one off £1,500 joining fee then £10,000 per year giving on average 4,500 miles driving over 40 days. On the face of it 40 members across Surrey & Sussex seems very achievable but I will not risk people’s money. We would need enough members/serious interest to ensure financial stability before pressing the button.
Members will have access to Aston DBS, Gallardo LP560, Bentley Mulliner, F430 spider, Gallardo Spider, R8, Maserati Grand Turismo, etc.
As you can imagine this is a huge financial decision for me and your feedback will be invaluable.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would, but I don't think I'd use the 40 days. I would dearly love too, but in reality I am an employee with 25 days holiday. I think you should consider a smaller fee for fewer days. When it works out a £250 a day, considering what I have spent on 'hire' cars in recent years/months then it sounds quite appealing.
Not something that would appeal to me - although Parc Ferme does - albeit not at the same level/quantity of car - and I'm guessing cost too. Plus it's based in the same patch as your opportunity.
I think that the key thing you are missing here is that the kind of punter who would sign up to this in London, probably has garage space and wherewithall to keep their own supercars in Sussex/Surrey. So you are really aiming for a customer segment slightly below that.
£250 a day for a supercar may seem cheap, but when you are guaranteeing to spend 40 days a year on it, I think it's too expensive.
To make it work you need more punters, higher car "occupancy" and cheaper prices.

I'm not in the market for this, but why don't you concider sports cars as opposed to supercars. You could then lower the price and therefore attract more customers. £10000 a year is a lot of money for a car that you only get limited use of..
IMHO of course
I'd agree with this, go for the cheaper cars most people would like to drive occasionally but also couldn't really justify owning, then charge less. Cars like: Atom, Top spec Caterham, certain TVR's, RS4, Cobra/GT40 replica, certain Lotus', Skyline etc..IMHO of course
I've always thought a club for classic car hire could be a good thing to get into. I've noticed quite alot of companies hiring out Classic Jags, Healeys and all the british stuff and only by the day, but not many offering other interesting muscle cars, classic racers, 70's rally classics etc.. reckon there's a market for that, and your assets appreciate, unlike modern supercars which the customers fee goes mostly towards depreciation.
