TV&S 1st Tuesday (Business) Club - Part 2
Discussion
Some of you may remember that about six months ago I wrote here about a proposal to start a monthly business club, the 1st Tuesday Club. For those of you who did not see the post, the idea was that once a month a group of us who had started or were starting a business met up, talked about where we were and sought help from each other to move the businesses onward and upwards. Today will be the 5th such meeting and although each of the meetings to date have been immensely useful, various fascinating businesses having been started or existing ones developed, we need to open up these meetings again to get some more people involved. Of the large number of people who initially responded to the post, perhaps 20% came to the first meeting and we now have a core of around 8 members. Inevitably, some months some of the members can't make it along for various reasons so, although this does mean that we can get around the table within a couple of hours (with just a few people there), we really need to have more people involved so that there will always be a good number of participants at every meeting. With the next meeting being at 8pm this evening at the 3Mar1ners Pub in Bagshot (deliberately spelt wrong, I'll explain why if we meet), all are welcome to attend. The meeting will typically take a couple of hours, perhaps longer if there are more people. We initially (at the first meeting) introduced ourselves, explained a bit about the businesses we were developing, then went around the table want with a kind of status update and a request for assistance on anything from developing a website to finding a marketing opportunity, to seeking a business partner/collaborator. After we got to know what each others businesses were we'd just launch straight into the ''how do I solve X..'' bit. Although at first we had some ideas about getting confidentiality agreements set up, that didn't really turn out to be practical so, if a business is of a particularly secretive nature it is wise just to talk in more general terms, no one will take it personally
One of the things that I have been most pleased about is the amount of already ridiculously successful people that joined the group, thanks, you know who you are! But please do not be intimidated by the fact that such heavyweight entrepreneurs may be present, just as many people with a part-time/part-developed or burgeoning cottage industry turn up.
So, if you are interested feel free to come along tonight and participate. We will be either in the 'cosy' next to the fireplace at the back of the pub, or if that area is taken or indeed there are a lot of people there, we will move to the separate 'sportsman's room' at the back of the pub. I look forward to seeing you there, PM me if you want my mobile number for directions or to track me down at the pub.
