Hi Gang

I'm looking into getting a towbar fitted to my '08 Audi A6 Avant. Colbornes (local main dealer) have told me that they don't fit them, and that they use Guildford Trailer Centre.

Does anyone know these guys? Would anyone recommend any alternative(s) in the area?

Thanks a lot...

Wotcha Ian wavey

Been looking into similar as want to get one on the Legacy. So far have got bookmarked the stockists page for Witter Towbars (you can also buy online and then use this lot as fitting centres I believe)

and also these guys who seem to have decent prices and also do fitting but less locations

Not sure which yet as that really is as far as I have got - finding it all rather confusing with different electrical kits etc all being thrown in the mix just to baffle me.

Thanks, Sinc!

It is all a bit confusing. Not helped by the fact that the Audi monkeys couldn't tell me what kind of accreditation the fitters needed to comply with the Warranty rules!

The bit that I have found out for Audi, at least so far, is that the OEM suppliers are Westfalia, that you should always go for the custom electrics to preserve the Audi functions, that it's a pain in the arse to get hold of the modified rear bumper and that most Audi dealers have NO CLUE!!!

I can see a business opportunity here...

Well that second lot do the Westfalia stuff if that is what you need, I was looking at those ones as they do a detachable job which makes it quite a neat install - they also seem to sell upgraded electric kits specific for the car (it comes with a basic universal electrics kit included if I understand it correctly), they add something like another £150-200 to the price but obviously that's a small price to pay in order to keep your warranty intact. I have no warranty on mine which means I have the dilemma of price and it working well or being a pikey and it maybe frying something like my ecu when they fit it hehe

Was just thinking the very same.

The only valid excuse for tow-bar fitting is for the trailering of track slags!! biggrin

Yep track slag is the official line, waiting till I move house and have the room the store one. Can't be arsed to keep it mot'd/taxed/insured so it will be trailer and towbar....

Having said all that, once I have a towbar if a caravan came up at the right price....I could be tempted hehe

Ah well aspirationally, my boat will be way to large to tow and will be on permanent mooring in Monaco..... still least that will free up the towbar for the caravan biglaugh
