The end result of my friendly french van dealers diagnosis is as follows:
(him)van now runs fine,
(me)really so lets have a test drive shall we?
(him) er ok but i'll drive,
(me)be my guest but drive it properly not like your taking you granny out!
(him)starts talking about how the ecu is a sensitive peice of equipment and how it will tell me if anythings wrong or likley to go wrong (Yawn)blah blah
So we are coming on to motorway and he chirps up again well i suppose its an intermittant fault then as its running fine now. i failed to respond blood boiling now!
As we venture back towards town the van coughs and makes the wastegated whoosh sound you get from a big turbo'd car. then again on the next gear change followed by the van coughing again.
The cab of the van is now silent and i am quietly smirking, ah i know what that is he said its the solenoid that tells the wastegate what to do but its not serious or the dashboard lights would come on!
My response was well this is what i fecking told you about in january and you said i was all bar cuckoo(i am but shhh)
We got back to dealership he annouces well we can change some bits but its going to be suck it and see scenario.
I have said nothing at the moment and have booked it in for suck and see method, this is only due to the fact the bloke i need to shout at is not their until monday.
However it is booked in to another Dealer for second opinion and has already indicated that there is a serious fault on vehicle so watch this space.
WHERES THE BEER !

I thought all that "had to be maintained by the dealer to protect the warranty" crap was done away with years ago? Can't you take it to any reputable spanner waiver without voiding the warranty?
Interesting point you have there Mr lord and one i raised earlier, it appears so long as the spanner uses genuine parts this is ok.
But have been warned if something major fails they will use this as an out of warranty card as the spanner has not done xyz .......on its service /check, i use the term service lightly as these t
ts nowadays are fitters not engineers!
I was told today that i could take it to an independant but would void my warranty and any claim i have void, but i can take it to another same make dealer which i have done and will know lots more by tuesday.
Shall we say i am a little upset at the moment and when calmer will makes some more calls higher up the coconut tree and shake it vigorously and see what Dealership gets their franchise withdrawn!

They're bulls
tting you, since the block exemption came in to play you have been able to have your vehicle serviced pretty much anywhere. IIRC you just have to document the works and be able to demonstrate oem parts are used.See here:

If these monkeys can do it, anyone can!

The oxy "@*/?@ at the dealer was refering to this disclaimer on most independants service schedules, quoted from nationwide, and also seen on our local garages paperwork is the following
"using our “menu” services may not exactly match those of the manufacturers and we can if requested carry out the same service as specified by the manufacturer".
I will dig deeper many thanks Dave
Update on this one...
Van is now at another stealership who actually acknowledge that maybe my van should not sound like a bag of bolts or dump all power out of wastegate!
They have asked for all correspondance and paperwork regarding my complaint to other Stealer and have requested to keep the van for an unspecified time so they can effect repairs and then test.
Fingerscrossed
