Rich,

I'd move away from the Skoda's if you can, why no RWD?

For the mileage you cover I reckon a diesel is the way forward.

Look at the Mondeos however I suggest looking for the exec alternatives to the sport models.

I've got an Octavia VRS, excellent car and hasn't let me down in the year I have owned it. Pretty quick, handles well and returns ok MPG.

Mine was 6k when I bought it on an 04, so it will be less now.

Can't comment on the others, but the Focus ST's drink petrol at an alarming rate...

How about a Silver 4 door 320d? I drove one recently on some nice empty roads, and I have to say it went quite well wink

Why not buy something cheap and fast and spend the rest on making it faster?

Get another german car (or VAG), they seem to stand up quite well to being crashed.

Great revvy engines, but will drink it if pushing on... Police means well maintained too.

Poverty spec though, not quite a Ghia X as the advert headlines. rolleyes

Surely there must be better spec diesel 130's out there with that mileage or less?

Nice Mondeo there John, and I think Rich should explore the 5ser route, spotted a few nice ones when I was looking for the 3ser.

I had the ST24 and that drank fuel, very nice car though.
Not sure about ex job cars, they get driven hard every day, but are well serviced...tough one to decide on
