I posted this in the home/garden/diy forum, but now think it was probably a pointless exercise considering it is really only a local TV&S plea for help/ advice!

Our local pre-school in Cranbourne (where Rory goes to) is looking for a large garden shed, probably plastic, for use to store childrens outdoor toys and equipment.

They run as a charity and the parents and staff raise all of the money they have, so don't obviously want to be shelling out a huge amount of money on a storage unit.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated for somewhere to get a suitable second hand one?

Dude - I'll ask Sue where they got theirs - as IIRC she got local businesses to 'sponsor' 2 monster sheds thumbup

As you know only too well - you just need the right people to ask the right people the right question at the right time wink

Have you tried Freecycle? People advertise allsorts on there. Might be worth keeping an eye out?

To be honest, I have no idea how much a shed is (apart from the £1000 PH sheds hehe ).

Given Vicki is the charity comittee secretary I have an insight into the finances, so sub £100 I would think for a second hand one. There might have to be some fundraising specifically for the shed if it is much more.

Are you and Hannah coming up this weekend to Henley? We are thinking of staying over...

Kiwi,

The sheds that Sue got were over £1k each - so by the sounds of it are out of the price league (assuming the school pays for it).

However, these are pretty hardcore sheds and are massive (hence the price).

BUT Sue said that the best place to go is the Swinley Sawmills. They will build anything you want, and to order. Also state that it's for a little school, registered charity, etc, etc, and they'll give a decent discount. But go and get a price at least - so you've got a comparative number to look at.

Note that it's the little shed place next to the main sawmills (you'll see it in front of you when you walk out of the car park).

And just noting here for reference, if anyone is ever looking for logs - they do a majorly stonking deal, round the back

That shed place at Swinley is great. Thats where we got our one at home from. Cheap, Sturdy, Fast delivery, and long lasting.

Dave - I'll check with the 'committee' and get back to you. What sort of size might you have?

They also got their pre-school £300 storage shed there (which I put together one saturday morning).

I think it was a 6x4 one.

But do mention it's for school/charity - and you'll get discount smile

Fraser, I got my shed, (an 8' x 8' plastic jobbie) from Costco. Was around £350 IIRC. I'll be popping in there later so I'll see if they still have any and at what price

Thanks Colin. The current shed (which is falling to pieces) is 8x6, so this might do the job depending on price.

ETA:
Still hunting on the usual cheapy webistes too, although will have a chat to local timber retailers as well to see what I can scrounge for a good cause wink

They do seem cheap. Did you get a metal one, or wooden?
