Not far away, what do you want to know?

There are nice bits and less nice bits. Lots of squaddie housing in the older parts, lots of council tennants in the newer parts. Depends where you're looking...

Spent three years there learning to fix helicopters.

It looked like an ok place to live, same as other towns, it has nice places and poor places.

Yeah. Despite the deal on the Tilehurst house progressing nicely, I still look at Rightmove every week in case anything worthwhile has come on the market in Arborfield. hehe

Thanks Sgirl for the mail.

Looking at a property up the Bull Inn end, I think it's more Aborfield Cross.

It is very quiet, but I think thats what we want. Just a bit worried about how long it may take to get to the M4, especially as you have to get over those 2 small priority bridges near Nirvana Spa

Depending on what time you need to get to the M4, it could take less than 10 mins, it could take 45. From the Bull end, it'd be easier to cut across country to Spencers Wood and join from there. Thing is, it's awkward to give a sensible idea of time at the moment due to the 'improvements' they are making to J11. Just the other morning, due to one lane being closed, the traffic tailed back 6 miles past J12.

Have you tried going via Winnersh and j10 instead of the direct route to j11? I don't know what it's like at rush hour there, though.

Actually not too bad - I live in Spencers Wood and go Shinfield -> Winnersh to get to work in Bracknell, rather than going through the J11 'improvements' to get on the M4, then spend several minutes queueing to get back off and onto the A329M. Occasionally backs up around the Black Boy roundabout, but that's generally when there are big problems with J11 anyway and some of the tards trying to get from Reading / Earley towards J11 block up the whole roundabout, rather than leaving helpful gaps.

Good point - which way are you going on the M4?

From Arborfield you've got the Black Boy bridge and then either 10 or 11 from there, or you could go past Nirvana and down to Sindlesham Mill, or you could go to the Sainbury's crossroads and down to the cinema and that way.
Also depends what time you are travelling, 10 minutes can make a huge difference.

I will be traveling to Heathrow, so I guess either the M4 at J10, or maybe cross country to the M3.

I suppose it will just be a case of trial & error, if we ever get out offer accepted.

I now remember why I waited 7 years to move, dealing with incompetent people who just want to milk you of cash.

Thanks for the help & suggestions

I drive through Arborfield every morning (I work in Lower Earley), and there is the best farm shop there - Lockeys, seriously good grub biggrin

From Arborfield to the M4? - 10 mins, 15 tops. You can even do a left at the Shinfield lights down towards Three Mile Cross which takes you to the M4 and misses the traffic at the Black Boy roundabout and then down past Whitely Wood Rd.

Nice area, although there are nicer places to live locally. Farley Hill, Beech Hill etc - depends on budget.

I have to go to Osterley which is just past Heathrow and I go down to the M3 and it is 45 minutes if you travel out of rush hour. I have to get into work @ 07:00 or 19:00 and leave @ 06:00 or 18:00 respectively and usually get there with 10-15 minutes to spare (although on a weekend, I've done it in 35min). If I'm unlucky then I'll get there dead on time. Going cross country isn't too bad as it is down through Eversley and onto the A30, then past Gibraltar Barracks and onto the M3 @ Jct4a.

Agree - to get to Osterley i used to take the M3 too, even though i live right next to the M4 @ J10.
For Heathrow i would imagine the same applies...
