Evening guys,

There are several merged threads running but for exposure I thought I would put this here.

Today was my first run with the SAS lot, although I have been on many hoons previously. I had an absolute blast and met some great people too, so I just wanted to say thanks to Pete "VerySideways" for organising the route and setting the pace! AND the other guys (Colin, Greg and Richard) for making a youngster feel welcome wink

I hope I made the grade and I look forward to meeting you on another hoon soon...

Jack

Good to meet you too Jack.
The SAS are a very friendly, social bunch and always stuff going on, not necessarily car related so keep an eye on the forum and maybe we'll see you again soon?

Good to meet you too, even if it was a little brief.

I have a knack for turning up to a meet point minutes before we're set to leave. biggrin

Hi Jack - nice 911 you've got. Good to meet up with you all and an enjoyable run out. I'll be on for another one, perhaps during a spell of dry weather wink Cheers Rich...

Welcome to the group Jack. Nice 993.....
For future reference, the pace yesterday was a little slower laugh than normal, but the roads were a little damp, although probably a good intro to our Sunday morning hoons.

Sounds like a lucky touch - I have already been on the phone to replace the Nexen eek rubber my car was sold with - Absolute tripe!

Do you have any pics of your old 993 or the spec? Sounded like a peach...

Get Continental SportContact 3 N3 in standard 18 sizes (225/40 and 265/35) and the car will be transformed.
Unless you mainly use it in dry weather, in which case Bridgestone N2's or Pilots are also pretty good.

I assume you Porsche chaps have yoru own favourites but I used to have Bridgestone SO3pp but since they are no longer available I have switched to Goodyear F1 GSD3 and they are excellent.

Don't work so well on 911s - weight distribution and rear suspension geometry (especially 993!).

For the Tiv, if you like GSD3's you should try F1 Asymmetrics next time wink

Goodyear unfortunately don't make the F1 GSD3 anymore, as the Asymmetrics have superceded them... they are a great tyre too though.. !

Ah ha! Seems every tyre I put on the Griff gets superseded! So it's Asymmetrics for me next time then?

I will have a look into the Conti tyres. I was going to go for the Michelin Pilot Sports which are a little more expensive but I have always found them very grippy - Any pointers?

Cheers lads

Pilot Sports are very good and last well, grip well too, only thing i found is that they cost more than the Contis and don't last any longer, and they're noisy...

(80k miles in 993s, and my turbo burnt through rears in 5k miles. I tried a lot of different rubber yikes)

Thanks for the recommendations Pete, sounds like you are a Porshce fanboy!

I will get some ordered up this week and let you know how I get on. - You're making me want a Turbo now frown

Turbo is an unbelievable car, but i preferred the urgency of the naturally aspirated engine. Can't decide what i enjoyed more, my ldh C4S or my lhd C2. Rhd C2 pedals were uncomfortably offset but it was the easiest car to live with.

I'll get me coat (or is that anorak?)... getmecoat

I think they've reduced the number of sizes they make for the GSD3, I know I can still get both in 225/40/18 or 225/45/17 or could last week.
