Who do I see to get a new telephone extension in Epsom?

Evening All,
Our loft conversion, including my nice new work from home office is now near enough complete. One of the only things left is the phone extension into said office. The builder is apparently struggling to find someone to do this.
Is it really complicated?
They've done all the seemingly far more complicated electrics up there, to say nothing of completely replacing the roof and everything else involved. They've also put in the back box for the new telephone socket up in the loft, and run a telephone cable through from the loft down to the ground floor. The only stumbling block seems to be actually connecting the two ends up.
Does anyone know of anyone in Epsom I can get to come in and do this? Chances are they'd get ongoing work from the builder as well, as he said he's been trying to find someone.

I haven't, no. I'd assumed they would charge some sort of ludicrous minimum rate that would make them completely uncompetitive.
It's not wiring a completely new line in or anything. It's just a spur off the main junction box, and the wire's already there, so just needs each end connecting up.
If anything, I'd envisage probably a BT engineer earning a few extra quid in their spare time or something.

I am pretty sure you assumed right 
by the way, has your shogun got a very large skull and crossed pistons on its spare? If so, I have seen it doing the rounds in Epsom!
Is the line already active? as in have bt connected the second line down in there exchange outside? but just not connected up within the house? If so its a peice of piss for anyone with a croning tool (about £20 i belive if needed alot of the newer BT jb's are screw termainal) and a multi-meeter.

It's not even a second line. It's just a spur off the main line. I figured it would be simple.I'm not sure why the builders can't do it though. I could still do with someone who can!

If one of the sparks on site doesnt know how to do it i would be shocked, if not where about are you in the sas area?
edit: dam should really think before i post..epsom is not to far so if your still out of luck during the week ill pop over and do it. Its litrally just a ten min job and that included getting to and from the car to do it.

As you say, I'm surprised that the builders haven't just been able to do it, as they've been superb in every other respect, which was why I was wondering if there was something weird I didn't know about.

You can do this but the amount of phones i have heard with a crackle (as it opens up the terminals to much causing the wires to be slightly lose) or the number of jb's i have seen butchered completly by people doing this is silly, at least 1-2 a week in my old job. So go steady and really gently push it in if you want to do it this way you can also use a very small terminal screwdriver.Edited by RichB on Sunday 20th December 13:51
