Tis cold. Just got back from the pub. Had to de-ice the inside of the car prior to leaving my flat and again after sitting in the pub for 2hrs! Roads are ok at <20mph though

Sorry to hear that Dizeee. Even if you don't have protected no claims wouldn't you just loose a % of it - it doesn't normally go down to zero no claims straight away?

I've just done the very same thing, however I'd made the decision to take the shed to work and not the Boxster.

It's like an ice rink outside my house at the moment, it's hard to even walk...

AFAIK they knock it down a couple of years for a claim - that's what I've read on here before.

I've never claimed so don't know.

Yep should be only 2 years off for a claim, not the whole lot. However that will probably be off what they consider max no claims, so say that is 5 then you'd go to 3 rather than 2 off 8 which could still leave you getting the highest discount. They will want their pound of flesh, but maybe not as bad as you think.

If you end up having to claim, they should only knock 2 years off. And if you have 8 years, you'll still be left with 5 or 6, which is still enough with most places to get it protected for the next year. I made the same mistake, having to make a claim back in March and went from 6 to 4. I now have to wait until i've completed my 4th years no claims again, before i can protect it, all because i didn't want to pay an extra £50 in the first place.
