Cheap oil change/ service, where I can get a receipt ;-)
Discussion
In order to meet the AA breakdown insurance criteria, I need to be able to prove the cars are recently serviced (otherwise they won't shell out the £500 for parts if I claim).
For the Disco, I will fit the EGR bypass and Decat pipe with Alex when he does his. I was also going to change the oil/ filters/ etc (which I already have purchased), but then I need some way of proving it was serviced by 'professional' garage.
For the Bug it is the same story. I have 5L the best Morris brand air cooled engine oil, but a drop and fill in the driveway won't cut it. Wouldn't mind getting the points changed, and carb re-set by someone who knows VW's other than myself too, which will help prove I'm looking after her to Mr AA.
Any ideas of where to go please, for the work/ receipt?

Odd, I've recently taken out the same cover on my Elise and they did not ask for any such proof. Perfectly reasonable request though.
Perhaps its related to the age of the cars. My Elise is 2000. How old is the Disco?

They don't ask for proof when you take the cover, but the terms and conditions state that before a claim is paid on any repair, they may ask for proof of up to date servicing. It's a get out clause that would make it easy for them to blame us for vehicle upkeep
Better safe than sorry. We deal with AA claims on a regular basis and yes the do often ask us to send proof of servicing/mileage etc. They will only accept a 'proper' invoice. That said it is a great policy, much more is covered than most warranty policies. You do have to have a call out for the problem before they will pay anything too, i.e. if a car comes into us on its own accord and has not had an AA patrol out to it, they will not pay.

When I was a student I used to test the patience of breakdown service as I couldn't afford to take my forever ill 1275GT to a mechanic, so it would 'breakdown' a mile or so from my accommo, regularly. The RAC and AA send you letters telling you that they won't come out anymore as you're taking the P. Green Flag will come out countless times and all they will do is send you letters advising you to think about changing your car. And, they often send independent mechanics out who, with cajoling, will go further than a AA/RAC bod as they get paid by the hour. This info could be well out of date now but mind you as it was back in the 90s when all of this occurred...

Always had a garage full of vans being restored.Last tim I was there he was starting an old 911.
How strict are they on the servicing? as Just going through the receipts for the puma and it seems to have been services every 12months on the dot irrespective of mileage and at one point there is 17k between services!
Don't fancy paying for a warranty I cant use. Serves me right for not checking all the invoices in more detail.
