Did Audi ever fit a tow bar to their B6 S4s? I remember reading somewhere that they don't normally stick tow bars on their S/RS range and it may invalidate the warranty. Not sure how true this is or whether it was model specific or not? Either way, give Fontain a call.

Completely off topic but how are you enjoying the S4? I really like the B6 and wouldn't mind one in the future if the price was right.

S4 is having a new clutch fitted and some sundry other work, hopefully getting it back next week or the week after (currently residing at MRC). Sounds nice though biggrin

Why would the S4 be any different to any other A4 Quattro Avant for towbar fitment?
Or am i missing something?

I've absolutely no idea, as I said, it's something I vaguely remember reading.

MRC are a good bunch! I wouldn't mind playing PAX with you some time to get a feel for that the car is like.

Pete, you're just missing the 'Audi factor' I too remember reading what Rob is talking about, they never offered factory options for tow bars on the S / RS cars, don't see how that'll stop you though smile

Just checked on RS246 and it seems that B6s weren't supposed to have towbars because Audi couldn't find any space in the engine bay to put additional oil coolers in, and they don't think the standard oil coolers are up to towing use!

That hasn't stopped lots of people from putting towbars on their B6s though, and with the B7 you could even spec it from the factory smile

Rob, i'll add your name to the list wink

S/RS's were never rated for towing - Audi reckoned the cars weren't up to it including the diffs, clutches, oil coolers, suspension, etc. I looked into it for the 6 and got a firm "don't do it" from everyone I asked...

We're not planning on regularly towing anything but on occasion if we need to move the Atom around it would be useful to be able to do it this way.
Thankfully the Atom doesn't weigh much, and neither does the trailer...

If you decide to go there, give me a buzz and you can pop in for a brew while he's fitting it.
