Anyone with a big library?!
Discussion
I'm in a bit of a pickle chaps...I am putting together an evening for a certain madame & what I'm effectively in need of is 150-200 books to borrow for a 24hr period where by they will sit in my car for a journey to Chiswick, sit around in a room for the night, then sit in my car for the return leg the next day!
Normally I'd borrow from a library naturally but obviously they won't let me borrow that many! So knowing how helpful PH can be, I turn to you chaps!
Do you, or anyone you know, have a large library of fiction which I can borrow for the day?! - If cash/beer is needed as a slight incentive, I am more than willing to provide!
(PS; Yes it's for a romantic evening! & no, there will be no incidents involving an Oxo tower or cracking open any back doors
)
Thanks in advance!

Find a scout jumble sale and buy a load? I know a local charity that has about 100 going for 30p each if you need some...
PS does she have some sort of weird book fetish? Or dream of doing it with a librarian? Or do you call yourself Mr Giles and pretend to be a Watcher and train a vampire slayer?

Ummm I have a huge library which I'm currently living in (revision and essays
) however I'm not sure they'd let me take out/it'd be possible for me to carry out 100 books...but I do have a load of books at home you could borrow, especially if Psychology, statistics and twilight saga get you in the mood :P

& she does, she's besotted with books. Basically she once described her perfect night in & the room being flooded with books was one of the many key details

Morning
I've got a ton of books you can borrow. Not many of them are fiction though - is that a problem?
Nidj.
Unfortunately so...Appreciate the suggestion though

Are you talking hardback or paperback?
I have got way over 150-200 of each in fiction.. but if you claim they are yours she's going to think your reading habits rather eclectic as they range from horror to psycho to romance and drama....... and then good old chick lit, to name but a few ;-)
The paperbacks you can borrow or if you want to you can buy from me, the lady can even come and choose her titles or give me her preference and I'll select them and she then can also read them. You can also then keep them for further trysts but not sure on more than lending the hardbacks, I feel like I've built a relationship with them
but that might be a knee jerk reation as I am almost at capacity.
I'm just down the M3 from you.......... let me know if you are interested......... Oh but there are two floors to carry them down!! and back up again !!

The books will be largely for show (Quite literally, all they will do is sit there!) & to basically help form the "dream" room she pictured.
Admittedly, the evening is going to be more based around a film we're watching, but the books are such a huge thing for her that the mere presence of them, how she pictured it, is all that I really want the books to do
I know it all sounds a little far fetched & "out there", so I hope I've not confused you at least!ironictwist said:

king hell and I thought I was a perverted wierdo.
PS. 'Flooded' takes more than a few hundred, once they're on bookshelves 150 books won't look that much IMO.

I don't know what size space you are trying to fill, whether you just want table tops full and a few on the floor etc but if you want to start filling bookcases...... have a think about your numbers.
Just need to make sure you know that you (a pal of yours too if that helps) will have to get the books up and down two flights of stairs and my carpet and walls are cream!!!
Nice that you are going to so much trouble, I hope your lady appreciates your efforts........

Maybe flooded was a tad generous...More create a "large organised mess"

It's bizarre but she sounds almost the sort of girl I'd date (bar the OTT freakish book fetish). I like an educated, well-read girl. Anyway, email me if you still need books.
Oh she is exactly that!
Will do...Although it appears Susie may have all the bases covered!swerni said:
break in to the local library and take a picnic.
got to be easier
You know, you're right!! got to be easier

It'll be far cheaper, far less hassle & some what more exciting too! What am I thinking?!

"I would suggest lots of chocolate. And possibly an old movie on a projector screen, sat on a deep red couch, surrounded by books, soft lighting and popcorn! Oh and me!"
Finding a place like this took some SERIOUS effort, even though it's not perfect, alas it's the closest I could find without spending a frankly ridiculous amount of money hiring a place.
I think 150-200 books should hopefully be fine, I plan to fill a few shelves, form a few columns on various furniture & essentially just create a bit of a organised chaos with them. I'll post pictures up of the space tomorrow, left pictures of it at my work unfortunately.
Absolutley no problem in running around a bit...I'm expecting to borrow a friends car to fill it with all these books as it'll be impossible to do in the '5
It would be like a "carry on..." film if I tried to lug them all in that!Appreciate all the responses boys & girl
Um. Sounds like she wants to date her grandpa. Have you asked her where she gets this idea from? Sounds like it could be a child-hood thing.
Now, I wonder what the effect would be if you "randomly" picked a book that was "randomly" placed nearby and just "happened" to be poetry, then you chose a poem to read to her that was coincidentally bookmarked?

Oh believe me it isn't! Especially in the context of our conversation at the time Now, I wonder what the effect would be if you "randomly" picked a book that was "randomly" placed nearby and just "happened" to be poetry, then you chose a poem to read to her that was coincidentally bookmarked?

Don't get me wrong, I like poetry, but I'll pass!
However, the room happens to have table football!! Which I'm determined to play her at Treasure hunt!!!!!? What's wrong with a nice meal before a film? lol
Only kidding it will be great I'm sure.
I've got 250 paperbacks and 100 hardbacks at the ready...... you will need something seriously bigger than the M5 though
As for the chocolate have you thought about getting one of those fountains with marshmallows? Just an idea
Can't wait to hear how this goes
