Employment legal advice sought
Discussion
A friend works for a small company where the boss is the only person generating revenue, the handful of other staff are all supplemental to his effort. He has broken his arm whilst on a recent holiday and will be unable to generate revenue for the next 5 or 6 weeks. There has been a suggestion that he will not be able to pay any of the other staff during this time.
What action would you take? Any idea if there is a legal precident here?

I have absolutely no idea however I guess it's all down to the employees terms and conditions within their contract. Would be a bit unreasonable for them not to get paid tho. If you're an employer, do you not have to have insurance to protect your employees in situations such as this?
The chances are that the employer will pay them if he/she can, in order to avoid losing the staff.
Legal action is unlikely to yield any results unless the employer is a sole trader with assets.
The first thing to do is for your mate to speak to the employer and raise his concerns. If there is a risk that they won't get paid, then it is probably best to start looking for another job.

If its a small company why dont the junior staff lend a Hand to assist in generating the revuenue.. It may in turn halp some of them get more onvolved with the business and possbile more pay... Would also show some commitment to helping the company stay afloat What action would you take? Any idea if there is a legal precident here?

IS THE INJURED PERSON QUALIFIED I.E. DENTIST. DOC.
THE OTHER STAFF WOULD NOT FILL THAT ROLE , AND WOULD EXPECT TO BE PAID AS CONTRACTED.
You would assume that if it is someone of a good profession that they would have planned adequate cover for emergencies etc. THE OTHER STAFF WOULD NOT FILL THAT ROLE , AND WOULD EXPECT TO BE PAID AS CONTRACTED.
Call in a locum to cover, and even so a doc or a dentist would have enough in the bank to cover cashflow for a good timeframe!
