Women parking at a local SAS school without thinking

I know there is a BAD PARKING thread in GG, but this is right in the middle of our patch right outside Ascot and Cranbourne Pre-school/ Cranbourne Primary School

Every morning (almost without exception!), this woman parks here on the bus stop, or on the double yellows, or on the zigzag lines.

Obviously blind women can drive , although they obviously don't consider protecting the safety of all of the other parents and kids

Without approaching her directly (as I don't want her to take out her 'response to her ignorance/ stupidity' on the school or kids), what should I do about it??

That actually looks like a road already featured in the Bad Parking thread to me (or another such thread on here).

Not sure what you can do without actually talking to her Frazer. Leave a rude note? Can't say I blame you not wanting to be so direct though.

Tip off a traffic warden? (bit mean)

Looks ok to me. It's about the size of a bus and it's not like any big red buses are going to be along very often?

This. She's parking in a bus stop, and you can tell that from the massive BUS STOP words painted on the road. And she should be able to recognise the words by the symbols from which they are made.

Seriously though, it's outside a school and it's not safe. if you confront her and she gets shirty, so what? You're in the right. And it's not often that any of us can say that with 100% conviction.

Report the car as sucpicious outside the school as the driver doesnt act like the rest of the parents via a one of those confidential lines, or the DD line.... bingo problem solved

I feel your pain, I have to pass two schools on the way to work and the parents don't really give a damn about parking restrictions even if it means they gridlock the whole road.

Not quite the same but last week I had a minor disagreement with a minicab driver when I was leaving the industrial state to pop out and see a client. He couldn't understand why I was so annoyed that he reversed around a roundabout, into the access road for the industrial estate and parked/positioned his minicab in such a way that the car was half on the correct side of the road and half on the wrong side of the road with the front end of his car over-hanging the giveway lines.

If he hadn't of moved, I would have had to have joined the roundabout on the wrong side. His arguement was that he could do what he wanted as he had to collect a fare in 10 minutes.

If they have a taxi plate on the back report the number to the providing authority with a phone pic and he will get a letter...

Every day I want to, but it is generally parked there when I am walking into school with Rory. It's not often that I actually see her inside the car, and the car is gone when I come out again about 5 past 9

I will have a word with her when I find her without Rory there, but don't expect much from someone who has that little regard for the kids who actually have to cross the road to go to school. Complete ignorance on her behalf

Because it is most days, I'd love a parking warden to jump out from behind a tree one morning and call the tow truck while the rest of the parents all cheered

But there is a time and place for flouting highway rules. Blocking the road view where kids are crossing for school is just brainless imo

We have had similar problems at our local primary school. The school and several parents all contacted the local police who sent community officers down to the school at drop off time to stand next to the yellow lines and talk to the offending drivers. They did this several times over a couple of weeks and it definately worked for a while. Even some months on when everyone is getting lazy again it is better than it was before. Unfortuneately it took seperate calls from local residents, the school itself and parents before they were prepared to do anything.

We've had the PCSO lot down at ours too, the school entrance has some of them yellow zig zag things on the front road section so you can't park too close to the corner and can therefore see better up and down the road (i.e as a pedestrian looking to cross); a lot of parents do play a bit fast and loose so the morons PCSOs come down to monitor it occasionally. Funniest thing was that the first time they came they opted to park their entire car up on the corner of the pavement at the entrance whilst they strutted around like peacocks.... the irony did seem lost on them that what they had done was ten time worse than what they were supposed to be stopping, people having to filter through the bottleneck of pavement that was left or (as many did) walk around the outside of the car and use the actual road to enter instead of the pavement. Think it may have been mentioned as not seen it done since

Its the 'I'll only be 5 minutes' idiots that do this, park wherever they like because they are only going to be a short time. It just plain bad manners, I mean if we all parked wherever the hell we wanted when we only expected to be a few minutes what would that lead to 'carnage'

For some reason these individuals think they are more important than anyone else. Just today I saw someone pull up in out work car park and bloc in 2 cars and make it very difficult for another to get out, of course I'm sure she was only going to be 5 minutes too.
