Driving home last night looked like a nasty smash just up from where I turned off (accident was by the Wellingtom Memorial)

Anyone know what happened?

Fire brigade were in attendance, so clearly a nasty one...

i had heard of a nasty crash there yesterday, people always take risks at that junction. Should have been made a roundabout a long time ago.

Did see a chavved up Corsa in the trees ( with sheepish driver standing nearby) this morning about 9am. No idea how he managed to lose it on the straight...

There's now a long section there which is a miserly 40mph limit - needless to say the cash-collection vans were in attendance too today. I hadn't even noticed the new limit (but I haven't used the road in a long while) - but was luckily in a slow snake of traffic.

Parish council minutes also suggest noise was a factor in reducing the limit!

Where do they park the vans on that section of the road ? I've never seen one myself.

They tend to be between the Wellington Arms and Wellington Monument - there's a couple of useful bays for them to park in...

yes

And on a couple of late nights, I've seen an unmarked 3-series parked in the 'new' 40 limit too...

Ridiculous, the road is safe at 60 at night.

As someone who lives just down the road from the new 40 mph limit, I have to agree with you.

However, common sense has no place amongst the militant locals who are convinced that "speed kills" and that lower limits are the answer to everything!
