Crowthorne High Street closed after Ram raid...

Seems quite a popular past time to try and do over the banks in Crowthorne, I remember when I was a kid someone walked into Lloyds with a gun asking for money while a friend of the family was in there.
Barclays has also been done via the smash attempt route and now sports some rather shiney barriers.
I'm sure it has nothing at all to do with part of the community that doesn't like paying tax.

That sounds like it was blocking the exit to the high street.

Not very good "inside information" if they tried to block the road with a patrol car with nothing else to stop or to follow them 
Surely if they knew it was going to happen they would have sent a helicopter!
More likely someone local saw/heard a JCB driving down the High Street, called the police and that patrol car was the only one that got there in time.

I was the Manager at the Barclays in Crowthorne when it got ram raided.
Was quite a shock to get the call to go in early in the morning to deal with the aftermath. Made quite a mess, in that case they used a big lorry and just reversed at the branch from across the road, then picked the machine up (bloody heavy), drove off with it and opened it up and then dumped it in the road near the railways station.
Did make me laugh though as it was relatively empty so not worth the bother

I am eager to hear from anyone who may have seen the digger travelling from Hampshire or the three vehicles travelling together.”
Got to be at least 10 miles!
