My ex tenants had to go through some kind of tenant check via Experian when they moved into their new places. I received a call asking some basic questions about them.

Is this something I can get someone to do for my next tenants and if so does anyone know how/where I begin?

If you Google "Landlord Tenant Check" you'll find there's loads of companies that will help you out. If you're a memeber of Landlord Zone, I think you can get cheaper checks done.

In the past we've used the online form available at tenantref.co.uk, however, we've never actually sent the forms off - it's amazing how much prospective tenants will disclose (CCJ's, for instance) if they are presented with a form to fill out!

We then keep the forms on file in case there are future problems, but (touch wood!) we've been very, very lucky landlords.
