soil pipe/chain cutter

I've got a little chain cutter - looks like a pair of mole grips with some chain and discs, used them to cut the old backbox off my car when i fitted the new one.

Any good?

like this, but on a larger scale Pete, its for 4" cast iron soil pipe!!

Use a 9" grinder with metal cutting wheel
Much cleaner cut and less risk of splitting than a wheel cutter

I have a 12" petrol grinder that would do the job.

thanks guys i would normally cut these with a grinder but 1 i have limited space and 2 the pipe in in a riser 5 storeys up on an old block of flats, im not sure if there is anything dry and flamable down there

in an ideal world, then yes it would, but untill the pipework could be exposed, and the bathroom layout was'nt changed by the client less than 24hrs after completion on the property, who knew?

im thinking its probably going to come to hacksaw option (at extra cost)

What about go down to the next collar and remove a section by percussive means then replace with UPVC or Timesaver if you wanna keep to iron pipe in riser ?

next socket down is in the flat below, plastered in, but you have given me an idea.
i can just about make it work for falls if i remove the cast branch i have and insert a UPVC corner branch in the stack.
