Tyres & Tracking, Newbury

Hi Guys,

The Focus is in need of some new front tyres soon, and the tracking needs re-aligning. I've had a reasonable price from The Tyre Barn on the Hambridge industrial estate, anyone used them? Or have any other suggestions? I'd rather take it to someone who i can trust than somewhere like kwik-fail.

I've never used them myself but I've heard good things about Headley Tyres on A339 for tyre prices.

Thanks chaps, I used Headley tyres ages ago on my first car, i might well give them a call. Micheldever is a little too far out of my way i think. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Headly are 1 mile up the road and seem to have a good rep. I've been up there with a few of the women from here (who need a man with them) and they've done a good job and are pretty quick and price competitive too.

Have used the Tyre Barn and really good guys. Would use them over the monkeys at Headleys. Get a 4 wheel track done, not just fronts for free when I bought a pair of tyres, but I don't know if that still stands.

Cool, thanks; i've had one recommendation for them already but wanted a second opinion. I'm happy with their price considering it includes fitting and tracking so i'll give them a go.

If they do a good job i'll add them to the directory Wiki.

Tracking or full geo? If it's just tracking then it's pretty useless anyway

Tracking - There's a very obvious problem with the tracking which has been there since the car got new coils and a track-rod end put on it (Ford approach to fixing a problem - throw bits at it until the problem disappears). They didn't sort the tracking afterwards.

Holding the steering wheel level causes the car to deviate left, even on a level surface - it's not road camber causing the deviation.

So you are sure front camber and caster and rear settings are correct? (assuming they are all adjustable on the Focus).

I would go to the Tyre Barn without hesitation , I believe it is run by 2 guys who left Headley .

Very competitive prices too , strangely enough , always a few quid cheaper than headley , give them a try , they wont dissapoint you .

I did use Headley for a short while ,but ....................

I'm afraid the limit of my mechanical knowledge has been met! I dont know how to check these settings, or if they are adjustable, how to do so. Hence why i'm hoping an alignment will fix things.
