Attn Mr Garlick - who have I upset at PH Towers?
Discussion
It would seem as though the mere suggestion that I have advertised my Tuscan for sale (on PistonHeads incidentally) has set alarm bells ringing amongst the nazi element of PH.
Firstly, i posted here on TV&S (the most popular regional forum) asking my local mates for input on the advert (as is commonly done by others without retribution). I had my legs slapped about that one, with a more friendly mod pointing out a breach of rule 8 about posting links to a website for personal gain. OK, I have no option but to accept that rule - however I don't agree with it nor understand its real purpose, but accept it i must.
However, on another, entirely unrelated thread, a "newbie" is asking about buying a Tuscan, and someone i don't know posted a link to my advert, suggesting it would be helpful to the OP. Not only was his entry deleted, but that same thread found here contains... and count with me, has THREE other links to external websites/adverts.
Now, how can this other person, posting a link to my advert, be any different to someone posting links on a "what car?" thread? Furthermore, someone else has contacted me telling me that they had made mention of my car being for sale, again with a link to the advert - his too was deleted.
WTF??
What are these fora for if not to communicate, share, educate and occasionally entertain?
I understand that you don't want me posting the advert, but FFS have some bloody consistency.
So, are we to assume that all of the "what car?" threads will similarly be deleted if they post links to adverts?
What about Best Smoker Barges" running to 249 pages!! or
The best ///M Barge etc running to 530 pages
Come on guys, why are you picking on a white haired, little old man like me? Surely there are more worthy candidates for your attention?

Seems like a fair question, wonder if you'll get a response? The best ///M Barge etc running to 530 pages

Have to admit, I was confused too when your thread on here got 'removed'.
I remember posting a thread post-Haymarket re selling my MIL's crappy old Astra without being deleted.
And my M5.
I also posted a link to the RS6 on 'My Garage' when a guy in the Audi section was looking for an Avant and suggested he could PM me if interested in making an offer.
And over the past few years there have been countless other threads asking for people's opinions on adverts they've placed? FFS DaveB tries to sell a car every 2-3 weeks or so (albeit the same cars...)!
If you do an advanced search for the term 'for sale' across the regional forums it comes back with circa 28 pages...
Surely if someone local is selling a well known local PH car then surely that is worthy of comment on the PH forums? I'd have thought that PH would prefer the car to stay in the fold as well, so to speak?
Alternatively David, in conclusion, it might just be you.

Maybe a simple disclaimer at the end of every comment might suffice?
The comment made here was not in any way intended to be used whether directly or indirectly for the purpose of selling, the statement/comment/sarcastic remark/emoticon does not represent the view of the business or organisation the writer might be/is/was a member of, is merely his/her/[unsub]'s own. Cheers The Moose

So anyway Dave, where can I find this Tuscan advert?
If i told you, i'd have to shoot you (or be shot myself by the angry moderators)You could look up a well known motoring web site, that have several discussion fora (not the TVRCC btw), and a place for advertising cars under TVRs, Tuscan (Speed 6) - but don't tell anyone i told you eh? You ain't seen me roit?
Must be fine to link to your own site then. Could this even be classed as promoting an advert? If so, I think you may have a case!

I had the same thoughts when reading your deleted post and the reasons, just didnt seem to add up, esp with the likes of the barge threads, and PH mods seemingly advertising thier cars at times for sale or mentioning it at least.
I even thought of starting a thread asking about buying a car
No need though they have scuppered genuine advice and ads? Very odd.
What about everyone who puts watermarked pics up with links to thier own profitable tog's websites? Or someone who says they are a cctv installer gimme a pm etc?
PH - haymarket advertising matters

I'm sorry, but I can't resist having one more little comedy dig at this...
Last weeks "shed of the week", complete with link to the private advert!
PH... double standards matter.

or post
Guys
I have a W124 E220 which due to unforseen circumstances I can no longer afford to run.
It's 93K with 146k miles. Book stamped to verify mileage.
Autobox with Sport/Economy switch.
Cruise control.
Electric windows and sunroof.
Clarion CD player.
Cloth seats - not leather.
No air con.
It's cracking car and I love it but its going to have to make way for something that is cheaper to run.
I live in Cheltenham so if anyone nearby fancies a look. I would take a grand for it which seems nothing for what it is.
PM if anyone is interested please.
Cheers all.
from the thread, and a 12 post newbie too...
